LFMAC students raise money for Breast Cancer

Congratulations to all..we did it! We gave your heart, soul, sweat and tears for three days and created some remarkable memories along the way.

It all began on a cool, crisp fall morning at Willow Grove Park Mall. The "Chick-Fil-A Cow" greeted us as we arrived and Starbucks had hot coffee waiting. The Chestnut Hill Community came out in full force supporting us with snacks, flowers and smiles. After a 20-mile walk, we settled down in camp for the night. Temple University football players, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts helped with gear and tents.

Saturday was another beautiful day. The New Balance cheerleaders greeted us at Pit Stop 2 and the Mummers strutted for us at Pit Stop 3. Center City Philly painted the town pink with the skyline and fountains. Kelly Drive's beautiful scenery provided a gorgeous path. After a 20.8-mile day, we were kept entertained in the evening by the Women's Choir and the Fighting Forty Band. And who can forget the inspiring stories told by participants Joe Bainbridge and Allison Fawcett.

Our final day began with cool weather and a definite excitement in the air! We walked through Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs to our final destination. Villanova University proved to be the perfect site to end our journey, with its beauty and stadium seating for family and friends.

The money you raised will go a long way to helping Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund save lives (Philadelphia walk raised $8.1 million).

Team members include my sister Michele Hunsiker from Magnolia Deleware and 7 members of my Fitness Kickboxing class; Tiffany Housler, Jessica Kauffman, Dianne Buchkoski, Tina Eavenson, Traci Lantz, Dorothy Snyder and Anne Martell.

Together we raised $22,168.00 as part of "Breast Friends Forever". Personally I raised $3,099.00 and will be raising funds till November 16th.
